#HumansOfBigBazaar Story of Manisha Kumari From Kota Five years ago, something happened that changed my life forever. Now I know who I am & where I belong. My name is Manisha Kumari and this is my story. I am originally from a small village in Bihar's Begusarai district. I am the family's eldest child, with two younger brothers. My family was poor, and we struggled to get by at times. My parents sacrificed a lot for us and moved to Rawatbhata, Rajasthan, to provide us with a good education. That’s where I finished my 12th grade before enrolling in Kota Government Polytechnic College. I started looking for work after my father's financial struggles became too much for him to bear. I started sending out my resume to multiple companies but couldn’t get a positive response. I was losing hope and that’s when I heard back from Big Bazaar. On August 15, 2016, I began working for Big Bazaar. When I started at Big Bazaar, I was a complete novice. In fact, it was the first time I worked on a computer. I struggled a lot. I could barely communicate with my coworkers and customers, and the work was challenging at first. But over time, it got easier. Even though we are all doing our best to improve ourselves, sometimes there can be setbacks. These are just learning opportunities. Today, I have taught myself to be as independent as possible. I can work a computer, order tickets, teach myself new things, and train my siblings to use the internet. My ambition propelled me to a position as a team leader at Big Bazaar, where I work hard and support my family. I never imagined I would be where I am today. I have never seen my setbacks as failures; instead, I have a mindset that there are many roads in life and learning from mistakes is the best path to success. I feel empowered when I have the opportunity to assist someone else, provide a helping hand, or lift up others around me. To show them that they, too, can achieve great things in life. I remember my father used to always say, “One of the most important things is to not give up, even when you have little resources or money at your disposal.” Taking his learning forward, I plan on getting my MBA while continuing work here.
